How Do You Size Up? A Complete Guide to Envelope Sizes (Infographic)
By Sarah Barr, Business Development Manager
Have you ever been stuck working on a direct mail project and you have no clue what envelope size you need or what size to make the materials inside of the envelope? Or have you ever designed an invitation or a nonprofit appeal, but it doesn’t quite fit into the envelope? If you answered yes to either of the scenarios above the good thing is you’re not alone.
I work with clients all the time that quickly become frustrated when they learn their designed pieces weren’t made to fit into an envelope properly. Helpful Hint: Always pick your envelope size first and then design your inside pieces. This will be much easier because anything going into an envelope can easily be altered, but envelopes are standard sizes that can’t typically be changed without becoming a custom job which requires larger minimums (read $$$$)! From standard business, announcement style, catalog, booklet or remit envelopes there are a ton of different sizes and formats that you can use to get a custom feel without spending custom cash!
So, how do you pick which option is best for you? Check out our Envelope Size Infographic below to help you find the correct size envelope for any of your projects. Also, we’ve made it super simple to get the right sizes on inserts based on what envelope you choose.
