Just like in person, first impressions online say everything. Having a bad website is like showing up to a first meeting in a dirty shirt and ripped jeans. If a customer needs to choose between a sloppily dressed person and one in a suit, they’d more than likely choose the clean & professionally dressed person.
Visual elements of a website let your potential customers quickly get a feel for what you represent and your “vibe”.
- It’s important to think about how you want to come across to your potential customers. Remember who you are designing your site for – give them what you believe they expect from you and your company.
- Find your style and make sure it is consistent and well thought out throughout your entire site and all marketing pieces. Ask yourself, does it reflect your brand image?
- User satisfaction is about a great experience – if a customer can quickly and easily find what they need, they will be happy and satisfied. It’s very frustrating to not be able to find the information you’re looking for on the website quickly. Make sure if nothing else, your phone number is available to find quickly and easily! You wouldn’t believe how many websites make it difficult for visitors to find their basic contact information! It’s also important to keep your site up to date to help users find timely information.
- A company should review their website monthly to be sure that any pertinent information hasn’t changed…..like hours, employees, brands sold, etc.
